There’s So Much Beauty in Burleseque
Burlesque shows have been gaining popularity in recent years and for good reason! These shows are a celebration of all things sexy, sassy, and fun. They allow performers to express themselves in unique and creative ways, while also entertaining and delighting audiences.
What I love about burlesque shows is that they are all about body positivity and self-confidence. Performers of all shapes and sizes take the stage, showing off their unique beauty and talents. The costumes, makeup, and music all come together to create a truly magical experience.
With our modern trends on social media and added technology we forget that the images we’re used to seeing these days are often photoshopped to give a muted but perfect picture. We’re conditioned to believe that all those pictures are what’s real but the truth is that very little of what you see is actually how a person looks IRL. Filters, Facetune and Photoshop allow anyone to change an image in order to give the viewer an unrealistic expectation for real beauty. That’s why, especially for women, we think we need to go under the knife or needle in order to become perfect. Perfection can’t be found by those means and what we fail to understand is that we’re all perfect in our own ways. Fine lines, wrinkles, scars, cellulite, and stretchmarks are part of the human body, and trying to erase them only feeds into our insecurities.
Burlesque shows are more than just a celebration of beauty and sensuality. They also have a rich history and cultural significance. Burlesque has been around for centuries and has evolved over time to become the vibrant and inclusive art form that we know and love today.
Attending a burlesque show is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. The energy and excitement in the air is palpable, and you can't help but get caught up in the fun. Whether you're a first-time attendee or a seasoned fan, there's always something new and exciting to discover at a burlesque show.
So if you're looking for a fun and empowering night out, I highly recommend checking out a burlesque show in your area. You won't be disappointed!
Burlesque in History
Burlesque shows have a long and colorful history that dates back to the Victorian era. Originally, burlesque shows were a form of musical theater that featured bawdy humor, satire, and parody. Women who wore revealing costumes often performed these shows and used suggestive dance moves to entertain the audience.
In the early 20th century, burlesque shows became more popular and began to include striptease acts. These shows were often performed in vaudeville theaters and were a popular form of entertainment for men.
During the 1950s and 1960s, burlesque shows began to decline in popularity as more explicit forms of entertainment, such as pornography, became more widely available. However, in recent years, burlesque shows have experienced a resurgence in popularity as a form of feminist performance art.
Today, burlesque shows continue to be a popular form of entertainment and are performed in theaters and clubs around the world. While they may still feature striptease acts, modern burlesque shows often emphasize creativity, artistry, and self-expression, making them a unique and exciting form of performance art.
