My Review
I'm a huge Darcy Coates fan and have loved all of her books so far! She has a way of intertwining the paranormal with a realistic plot that gets you almost believing such things are possible.
Black Winter was a little different although it held the same flare that keeps me hooked on her writing which did not disappoint. It honestly felt like a flip of Beauty and the Beast, except the pair were both attractive. Being stuck in a large mansion in the middle of the woods with something lurking outside is terrifying but I bet anyone with Dorran for company could end up dealing quite well for at least a little while.
As the couple becomes more and more suspicious that they're being watched and stalked they have to find a way to survive when the only safe place is inside. Leaving is not an option.
It's when it becomes apparent that they are not along and something more sinister is waiting for the right time to show themselves, Clare and Dorran will have to fight to survive.
I'm excited for the next book to find out what decisions Clare makes to save her sister. The one part I didn't care for was Clare's thought process. Everytime you would hope she'd do one thing, she'd do the opposite and put them both in danger...EVERYTIME!
Other than that small piece, I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to Book 2
