My Review
I'm a new fan of Leah Montgomery's writing. She has a way of developing a story that leads you one what only to smack you in the face later with realizations that are so unbelievable it's hard to imagine its the same book.
I think there were days when everyone knew their neighbors, it's been so long ago now that I can't think of a single time I made friends this way and in my experience everyone wants to just do their own thing without getting involved in others lives. This is one of the reasons the story turned for me, even through curiosity that is often not enough to embroil ourselves into the lives of those who live next door and yet that's exactly what Marcy did when a newcomer shopped up across the street.
Marcy knew something was off even before the threatening letters started arriving. I wonder now if she ever had an inkling that they were really meant for her and not the next door family's.
There's more going on here than you thought and as you read through, I'm sure you'll pick up on it but when the reveal is made, I don't think you would have come close to guessing the true story prior to the details being shared.
I truly loved this book...it kept me hooked and I pick Leah's other book right after wanting to keep the momentum going. When I find a great writer, I try to read as much of their work as possible and the second one definitely topped this read.
